Inkomoko is seeking a skilled and results-oriented Recovery Officer to support its credit portfolio management and debt recovery operations in Juba, South Sudan. The successful candidate will monitor loan performance, identify repayment risks, manage delinquent accounts, and implement effective debt recovery strategies to minimize credit losses.

Working closely with loan officers, compliance teams, finance staff, and legal advisors, the Recovery Officer will play a key role in maintaining portfolio quality, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting financial inclusion initiatives.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Loan Monitoring

  • Monitor loan portfolios and identify potential default risks.
  • Recommend appropriate recovery solutions.
  • Identify and escalate repayment irregularities.
  • Prepare:
    • Monthly portfolio reports.
    • Weekly portfolio reports.
    • Portfolio at Risk (PAR) analysis.
  • Evaluate product performance using collection data.
  • Monitor loan account turnover.
  • Maintain early warning reports on credit impairments.
  • Support loan officers, loan managers, and compliance teams in managing non-performing loans.
  • Contact borrowers through calls, reminders, and site visits.
  • Conduct post-disbursement monitoring visits.
  • Monitor repayment compliance and reduce recurring defaults.
  • Maintain PAR levels in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Department to reconcile loan repayments.
  • Achieve monthly portfolio quality targets.
  • Negotiate repayment plans with defaulting borrowers.
  • Initiate receivership processes with legal advisors when necessary.

Debt Recovery

  • Manage delinquent loan portfolios and determine causes of default.
  • Implement debt recovery strategies to minimize financial losses.
  • Ensure compliance with Inkomoko's Credit Policy and Procedures.
  • Prepare monthly debt collection reports.
  • Reduce non-performing loans through restructuring and recovery initiatives.
  • Conduct regular borrower follow-ups and field visits.
  • Prepare and issue demand letters and reminder notices.
  • Review loan files to ensure proper documentation.
  • Work closely with legal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement of credit and recovery policies.Β 

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Finance
    • Business Administration
    • Or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in:
    • Banking
    • Microfinance Institutions (MFIs)
    • Credit monitoring
    • Loan recovery
    • Related financial services.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Credit risk management
    • Loan recovery
    • Debt management
    • Banking or MFI operations
    • Fraud risk management.
  • Previous customer service or debt collection experience.
  • Ability to negotiate repayment arrangements effectively.
  • Experience working with legal recovery processes or civil court litigation is an added advantage.
  • Fluency in:
    • English
    • South Sudanese Arabic.
  • Knowledge of additional local languages is an added advantage.
