Job Overview

VisionFund Rwanda (VFR) is a regulated microfinance institution providing savings, loans, and other financial services to communities across Rwanda, with a particular focus on underserved rural communities, women with dependent children, and young people.

The Business Development & Integration Manager will report to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for developing strategies that increase awareness and adoption of VFR products and services. The role combines marketing, business development, sales, communications, customer research, budgeting, and social performance.

The successful candidate will help strengthen VFR's market position by developing effective marketing strategies, identifying new business opportunities, improving product positioning, supporting customer-focused initiatives, and ensuring that financial services reach the institution's target clients responsibly.

Marketing Strategy and Product Development

Develop and implement cost-effective marketing strategies appropriate for VFR's target markets.

Develop and improve marketing products, tools, techniques, and campaigns.

Pilot-test new marketing products and strategies before institution-wide implementation.

Review pilot results and refine marketing initiatives based on findings.

Develop attractive names, positioning, and packaging for loan, deposit, and other financial products.

Prepare and regularly update VFR's marketing prospectus for investors, donors, credit providers, and technical partners.

Supervise awareness campaigns for VFR products and services through channels such as newsletters, radio, posters, competitions, and press releases.

Oversee customer satisfaction, competition, and market research activities.

Analyze research findings and recommend improvements to products and services.

Recommend appropriate changes to branch locations, infrastructure, or service delivery where market evidence supports such changes.

Planning and Budgeting

Prepare the annual marketing plan.

Prepare the annual marketing budget.

Review marketing expenditure and budget performance on a quarterly basis.

Communications and Public Relations

Maintain relationships with relevant information networks and World Vision regional and national offices.

Prepare and edit press releases on behalf of VFR.

Coordinate approved media communications with relevant media organizations.

Develop promotional materials including leaflets, flyers, calendars, and related materials.

Develop initiatives aimed at strengthening the public image and corporate identity of VFR.

Review corporate branding elements and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Sales and Business Development

Develop and implement a sales strategy for VFR.

Proactively identify and pursue new business and sales opportunities.

Monitor market developments, new products, and competitor activities.

Identify opportunities to increase customer acquisition and market share.

Work toward achieving sales and growth targets.

Social Performance and Integration

Ensure VFR reaches its intended target clients, including low-income communities, women with dependent children, young people, and relevant World Vision programme areas.

Recommend adjustments to products, geographic coverage, delivery methods, and partnerships to improve access to financial services.

Support linkages between VFR and World Vision savings groups.

Ensure financial services are delivered responsibly while maintaining institutional sustainability.

Promote client protection practices, including responsible lending, appropriate debt collection, and effective customer complaint mechanisms.

Support training of branch managers and staff on social performance and client protection practices.

Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

University degree in Economics, Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.

Prolonged and relevant professional experience in microfinance operations is required.

Strong understanding of marketing and business development principles.

Good knowledge of economic and financial topics.

Strong communication and marketing skills.

Ability to develop and implement marketing and sales strategies.

Ability to conduct or interpret market and customer research.

Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Initiative, determination, perseverance, and ability to motivate others.

Ability to take responsibility and demonstrate professional integrity.

Good training, facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work effectively with different stakeholders and community groups.
