Carnegie Mellon University Africa is seeking an Impact Storytelling and Outreach Manager to support its Learning Science for Innovators (LSFI) EdTech Project in Kigali.

The role focuses on communicating the impact of education technology initiatives across Africa through storytelling, digital content, media production, outreach campaigns, and evidence-based communication.

The successful candidate will work with EdTech Hubs, entrepreneurs, learning science teams, Carnegie Mellon University staff, the Mastercard Foundation, and other project partners. Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Lead content development for the LSFI project website, social media channels, project stories, blogs, and marketing materials.

Develop compelling stories that communicate the experiences, achievements, and impact of EdTech entrepreneurs and project stakeholders.

Collaborate with EdTech Hubs to promote LSFI programmes and learning opportunities.

Support the production of evidence-based reports for project participants and funding partners.

Manage communications and promotion for events, learning opportunities, meetups, and storytelling campaigns.

Collaborate with EdTech Hubs, Fellows, the Mastercard Foundation, and other project stakeholders.

Produce professional videos, interviews, motion graphics, and other multimedia content.

Manage external communications through project websites, LinkedIn, newsletters, and other appropriate channels.

Write communication materials while ensuring compliance with applicable brand guidelines.

Develop and implement internal and external outreach strategies.

Work with Learning Engineers to produce digital assets such as course visuals, audio, video recordings, and podcasts.

Obtain media releases when required.

Ensure digital content meets accessibility and language localization requirements.

Protect and strengthen the reputation and brand identity of Carnegie Mellon University and project collaborators.

Coordinate marketing materials and communication campaigns.

Track and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach initiatives.

Develop reporting approaches to measure engagement, reach, impressions, and other communication outcomes.

Use campaign results and audience feedback to identify opportunities for improving future outreach activities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Writing, Media Production, Advertising, Marketing, Journalism, Education, or another related field.

Strong portfolio demonstrating relevant writing, storytelling, communications, outreach, or media-production work.

Practical media-production skills, including film, motion graphics, audio, and video editing.

Graphic design experience with an understanding of typography, color use, iconography, and information visualization.

Experience working in outreach and education within an African context.

Experience working with multicultural and multilingual teams.

Excellent written and spoken English.

Strong storytelling, writing, presentation, and communication skills.

Ability to develop content for different audiences and communication channels.

Ability to work collaboratively with technical, academic, creative, and development teams.

Additional languages are an advantage.

Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Figma, or Framer is an added advantage.
