Job Overview

Big Mining Company Ltd, a prominent tin and coltan mining company operating in the Southern Province of Rwanda, is looking for a Maintenance & Engineering Supervisor. This is a critical technical leadership job in Rwanda for an experienced engineer who can keep heavy industrial machinery running safely, reliably, and efficiently.

Based in Byimana Sector, Ruhango District, the successful candidate will report to the Operations Section Leader. You will be responsible for supervising maintenance technicians, planning preventive and corrective maintenance, and providing engineering support for a wide range of systemsβ€”from mechanical and electrical to plumbing and compressed air.

This role is not just about fixing breakdowns. It is about building a culture of reliability, enforcing strict safety standards, and driving continuous improvement in a demanding mining environment.

If you are searching for the latest engineering jobs in Rwanda and have a background in heavy industry, manufacturing, or mining, this opportunity is perfect for you. It is best suited for an engineer with at least two years of experience (including one year in a supervisory role) who is ready to take charge of a multidisciplinary team.

Why This Opportunity Matters

Working in the mining sector offers a unique set of challenges and rewards. As a Maintenance & Engineering Supervisor, your work directly impacts the company's bottom line and the safety of your team.

What makes this opportunity valuable:

  • Hands-On Leadership: You will not be stuck behind a desk all day. This role requires you to be on the ground, supervising artisans, solving complex equipment failures, and managing contractors. It is a fantastic opportunity to sharpen your practical leadership skills.

  • High-Impact Role: Mining operations rely heavily on equipment uptime. By implementing reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and tracking KPIs like MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), you will directly contribute to the company's profitability and operational excellence.

  • Safety-First Culture: You will be a key enforcer of occupational health and safety standards, including Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. The experience you gain in high-stakes safety management is highly transferable to any industrial sector globally.

  • Career Advancement: Supervising multidisciplinary teams and managing maintenance budgets are core competencies for advancing to roles like Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager, or Operations Director in the future.

  • Industry Exposure: Coltan and tin are critical minerals in high demand globally. Working in this sector provides you with specialized industry knowledge that is highly valued on the international market.
