The Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR) is an accredited higher learning institution in Rwanda. Through its Centre for Research and Action towards Sustainable Peace and Development (CRASPD), the university conducts research, training, and outreach activities focused on sustainable peace, social cohesion, and community development.

PUR is seeking a Peace Training Officer to support the Youth Empowerment for Nonviolent Action (YENA) programme and other peacebuilding initiatives coordinated by CRASPD in collaboration with the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies.

The position will involve coordinating peacebuilding activities, facilitating training and youth programmes, supporting partnerships across the Great Lakes Region, and contributing to project planning, monitoring, reporting, communication, and resource mobilization.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Coordinate and facilitate trainings, workshops, youth camps, study tours, and related YENA programme activities.

Support other nonviolent conflict transformation initiatives implemented by CRASPD.

Strengthen relationships and partnerships among youth groups, community organisations, universities, and peacebuilding stakeholders in Rwanda, Burundi, and eastern DRC.

Facilitate initiatives involving Alternatives to Violence Project, Nonviolent Communication, Positive Masculinity, and approaches addressing sexual and gender-based violence.

Contribute to the development and delivery of training curricula, educational materials, and learning resources.

Support peace and conflict studies learning activities within the Faculty of Development Studies and related PUR programmes.

Provide mentoring, coaching, and capacity-building support to students, youth leaders, and members of the PUR Peace Club.

Support project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Collect and document programme data and prepare reports in accordance with applicable GIZ requirements.

Maintain effective communication and coordination between CRASPD, PUR, GIZ-CPS, and partner organisations.

Participate in regional learning, networking, and knowledge-sharing activities.

Contribute to the preparation of concept notes, funding proposals, budgets, work plans, and narrative reports.

Support resource mobilization and development of new project opportunities.

Contribute to CRASPD communication and visibility activities, including website management, social media engagement, content creation, and public outreach.

Participate in CRASPD meetings, PUR institutional activities, and relevant university events.

Perform other duties assigned in support of CRASPD's programmes and objectives.

Requirements

Requirements

Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, or a closely related field.

At least 3 years of professional and/or volunteer experience in peacebuilding, conflict transformation, youth empowerment, or a related area.

Good understanding of conflict dynamics and peacebuilding processes in Rwanda and the Great Lakes Region.

Experience facilitating workshops and training programmes.

Experience with Alternatives to Violence Project, Nonviolent Communication, Positive Masculinity, or other nonviolent conflict transformation approaches is an advantage.

Experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing.

Strong organizational and coordination abilities.

Strong facilitation, networking, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to communicate and work effectively across different cultures.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.

Commitment to peacebuilding, nonviolence, social inclusion, and youth empowerment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online collaboration platforms.

Photography, video production, graphic design, or digital communication skills are an advantage.

Fluency in English and French is required.

Fluency in Kinyarwanda is an added advantage.
