Overview

Rwanda Energy Group Limited is a government-owned holding company responsible for:

• Import and export of electricity

• Procurement and generation

• Transmission and distribution

• Sale of electricity across Rwanda

REG plays a critical role in ensuring reliable and safe electricity supply nationwide.

Responsibilities

The Safety Officer will ensure that all staff and personnel adhere to safety measures while working on electrical installations, in accordance with EUCL electrical safety operating procedures.

The role focuses on enforcing safety standards, conducting inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture within the Planning Department and utility operations.

• Implement safety rules, documentation, and PPE provision across the Planning Department and Utility

• Monitor compliance with regulatory and statutory guidelines of Rwanda

• Ensure monthly reporting of safety-related events

• Promote adherence to EUCL safety operating procedures

   Inspection & Risk Management

  • Inspect worksites to ensure hazard-free environments

  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventive measures

  • Review and approve Contractors’ Site Safety and Health Plans (SSHP)

  • Investigate and report construction site incidents

    Safety Awareness & Culture

    • Conduct safety awareness campaigns

    • Mainstream health and safety guidelines

    • Propose measures to strengthen safety culture

    • Review and update safety policies where necessary

Requirements

Applicants must have one of the following:

Option 1

• A0 in Mechanical Engineering

• Minimum 1 year experience in Electrical Utility

Option 2

• A0 in Public Health

• Minimum 1 year experience in Occupational Health & Safety

Option 3

• A0 in Electromechanical Engineering

• Minimum 1 year experience in Electrical Utility

  Experience Requirements

  • At least 1 year relevant experience

  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices

  • Familiarity with electrical utility environments

  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and enforce safety complianc
