Overview

Impactful Solutions Rwanda (ISR-CBC) is recruiting three experienced School Principals to lead SOS primary schools located in Gasabo, Gicumbi and Nyamagabe districts.

ISR-CBC is a registered social business established by SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda to manage its income-generating and service-delivery enterprises. These include schools, a training centre, guest houses, a bakery, farms and event-management services. Established in December 2025 and headquartered in Kacyiru, Gasabo District, the organization focuses on operational excellence, financial sustainability and long-term social impact.

Guided by the vision “Where Children Thrive and Communities Rise,” ISR-CBC works to provide inclusive and sustainable education that equips children and young people with the knowledge, competencies and values required to succeed in a changing world.

The selected principals will provide strategic, academic, administrative and financial leadership to SOS Kigali Primary School, Byumba Primary School and Gikongoro Primary School. Each principal will be responsible for strengthening teaching quality, learner performance, staff accountability, child safeguarding, enrolment growth and the overall sustainability of the assigned school.

Why This Opportunity Matters

A school principal influences nearly every aspect of a learner’s educational experience. Effective leadership improves teaching quality, strengthens staff performance, creates a safe school culture and ensures that resources are used responsibly.

This position offers experienced education professionals an opportunity to:

  • Lead implementation of Rwanda’s Competence-Based Curriculum.
  • Improve academic outcomes and English-language proficiency.
  • Mentor teachers and strengthen instructional practice.
  • Promote child safeguarding and learner wellbeing.
  • Expand enrolment and improve student retention.
  • Oversee school budgets, revenue and operational performance.
  • Build stronger relationships with parents and local communities.
  • Contribute to the long-term growth of SOS schools in Rwanda.

The role combines educational leadership with institutional management, making it suitable for professionals who can balance academic excellence with financial and operational sustainability.

Application Tips

Applicants should ensure that their CV clearly demonstrates progressive school leadership experience rather than listing only classroom teaching responsibilities.

Strong applications should include measurable achievements such as:

  • Improvements in examination results or learner pass rates.
  • Increased school enrolment or reduced student dropout.
  • Successful implementation of the Competence-Based Curriculum.
  • Teacher-development programmes led or coordinated.
  • Improvements in fee collection, budgeting or expenditure control.
  • School inspection results or compliance achievements.
  • Child safeguarding systems introduced or strengthened.
  • English-language improvement initiatives for teachers and learners.

Candidates should also demonstrate experience managing both teaching and non-teaching staff, engaging parents, preparing institutional plans and reporting to senior management.

The application letter should explain how the candidate’s leadership experience can support academic quality, school growth and financial sustainability at an SOS primary school.
