Overview

COOPEC IKIRENGA is inviting applications from qualified and motivated Rwandan candidates for the position of Teller. The cooperative is seeking three customer-focused professionals to support daily banking operations across its branches in the Northern Province.

COOPEC IKIRENGA was established in 2024 following the merger of five Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs): COOPEC ITI, COOPEC CODEMARU, CSTCR SACCO, CSPKI, and TRASO. Operating under the supervision of the National Bank of Rwanda, the cooperative is committed to providing reliable, accessible, and member-focused financial services.

As a Teller, you will serve as the first point of contact for members, handling cash transactions, account services, and day-to-day banking operations while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity.

Responsibilities

Cash Transaction Services

The successful candidate will:

  • Process customer cash deposits and withdrawals accurately.
  • Handle cash transactions in accordance with cooperative policies.
  • Ensure all transactions are completed securely and efficiently.
Account & Banking Services

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing inter-branch account transfers.
  • Handling cheque-related services, including cheque deposits.
  • Assisting members with routine banking transactions.
  • Providing accurate information regarding banking services.
Daily Branch Operations

The Teller will also:

  • Support daily branch opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist with till opening, balancing, and closing.
  • Maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Ensure proper cash reconciliation at the end of each business day.
Customer Service & Sales

The role involves:

  • Delivering professional and courteous customer service.
  • Identifying opportunities to cross-sell cooperative products and services.
  • Supporting member satisfaction through efficient service delivery.
  • Responding to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
Other Duties

The successful candidate will perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Branch Operations Officer or Outlet Supervisor to support branch operations.

Requirements

Education

Applicants should possess:

Minimum Qualification

  • Advanced Level Certificate (A2) in Accounting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Business Management
    • Finance
    • Accounting
    • Business Administration
    • Economics
    • Related field

Candidates holding bachelor's degrees will have an added advantage.

Technical Skills

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Basic knowledge of Core Banking Systems (CBS)
