Overview

SNV Rwanda is recruiting an Access to Market Advisor in Rwanda for the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agriculture – Rwanda (YEA-R) Program, a high-impact initiative focused on youth employment, agribusiness development, and market access in agriculture value chains.

This agriculture jobs Rwanda 2026 opportunity targets professionals experienced in market systems development, agribusiness advisory, and private sector engagement, particularly in horticulture and poultry value chains.

The role focuses on improving market access for youth agripreneurs, strengthening cooperatives and MSMEs, and creating sustainable income-generating opportunities for young women, men, and persons with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Market Access & Agribusiness Development

  • Lead market access strategies in Rwanda’s agriculture sector, connecting youth entrepreneurs with buyers, suppliers, and MSMEs
  • Identify agribusiness opportunities in horticulture and poultry value chains
  • Develop and support competitive business models and strategies for cooperatives and youth-led enterprises
  • Facilitate public-private partnerships and B2B linkages across agriculture markets
  • Strengthen financial inclusion by linking youth to loans, grants, and micro-leasing opportunities

Private Sector & Cooperative Strengthening

  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to agripreneurs and cooperatives
  • Build strong agribusiness networks and youth entrepreneurship ecosystems
  • Improve business capabilities in:
    • Financial literacy
    • Digital skills
    • Marketing & sales
    • Customer service
  • Support governance, compliance, and supply chain optimization (logistics, inventory, distribution)

Youth Empowerment & Inclusion

  • Promote inclusive agribusiness models targeting women and persons with disabilities
  • Develop pipelines of youth entrepreneurs capable of accessing markets and finance independently
  • Strengthen leadership and entrepreneurship capacity among youth

Program Implementation & Coordination

  • Collaborate with partners to deliver market-driven youth employment solutions
  • Monitor progress using M&E frameworks for market access and economic empowerment
  • Support rollout of business-to-business (B2B) engagement initiatives

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Agribusiness
    • Business Administration
    • Economics
    • Development Studies
    • Or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in market access, agribusiness, or private sector development
  • Proven experience in:
    • Market linkages and value chain development
    • Cooperative and MSME support
    • Business development in agriculture

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of agriculture value chains (horticulture & poultry preferred)
  • Experience facilitating partnerships, B2B engagement, and financial inclusion
  • Knowledge of local and regional agricultural markets in Rwanda

Core Competencies

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and youth empowerment programs

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda
  • Basic French (added advantage)

  • Contract Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Contract Duration: 1 year
  • Duty Station: Kigali, Rwanda
