One Acre Fund is recruiting a Strategy & Operations Associate to work directly with the Office of the CEO, supporting strategic initiatives that strengthen the organization’s impact across Africa.

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supports more than 5.5 million smallholder farmers across nine countries by providing access to quality farm inputs, financing, agricultural training, and market opportunities. Through this model, farmers increase productivity, strengthen resilience, and significantly improve household income.

The Strategy & Operations Associate will lead high-impact projects aligned with organizational priorities while collaborating closely with senior leadership. The role offers the opportunity to influence large-scale strategic decisions that affect thousands of staff and millions of farmers.

Responsibilities

The Strategy & Operations Associate will lead cross-functional initiatives that improve organizational performance and support strategic growth.

Strategic Project Leadership

  • Plan and deliver projects that support key organizational priorities across multiple teams and countries.

  • Identify innovative approaches to improve agricultural programs and farmer support systems.

  • Design and implement operational models that enable the organization to scale effectively.

Organizational Transformation

  • Lead change management initiatives that improve efficiency and performance.

  • Implement systems for evaluating program performance and return on investment.

  • Support development of new operational frameworks and internal processes.

Communication & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Translate strategic priorities into clear communication for internal and external audiences.

  • Support senior leadership meetings and governance processes.

  • Coordinate organization-wide communication campaigns related to strategy updates.

Operational Team Support

  • Collaborate with operational teams through temporary project assignments or internal secondments.

  • Provide project management support during country expansions or new program launches.

  • Work closely with multiple departments to ensure smooth implementation of strategic initiatives.

Requirements

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in strategy and operations, such as:

    • Management consulting

    • Organizational strategy roles

    • International development programs

Technical Skills

  • Strong project management skills with experience leading complex cross-team initiatives.

  • Experience conducting data-driven analysis and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, including advanced presentations and analytical models.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English is required.

  • Additional languages such as French, Swahili, or Kinyarwanda are an advantage.

Personal Competencies

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.

  • Capacity to align diverse teams around shared strategic goals.

  • Work Permit: One Acre Fund may support work permit processing if required
